"From what Uncle Binh had heard, Sheikh Al Saudi has
a reputation for being a highhanded and intolerant man, especially with women.
He wore an intimidating leather whip around his waist, like a belt accessory,
so it could be readily available for whenever he needed it. When he would deem
one of his wives disobedient or disrespectful, he didn’t hesitate to use it mercilessly
on her. Once, he accused wife number eight of cheating because she was caught
thanking a male waiter for refilling her water. He whipped her in front of all
his other wives to make an example of her."
